The Real Heroes

I’ve been thinking a lot about what’s going on in the world.

I definitely don’t have answers to the world’s problems, nor will I ever pretend to, but here are a few things I know, for sure.

I care very much for children, animals, and Mother Nature. I don’t care very much for the decisions often made on their behalf.

I don’t care for government.

I don’t care for extravagant protests – the new Raves of today – where adults and children alike, flock to snap selfies for their Instagram profiles. They’ve become nothing more than social events and they leave behind heaps of trash in their wake.

I don’t care for political parties.

I don’t care for agencies & systems that pretend to care.

I care for individuals doing what they can in their daily lives, when no one is looking.

I care for the mother who cradles her sick child, while stifling her own coughs.

I care for the man who helps a homeless neighbor and never posts about it.

I care for the woman who says, “No bag, please.”

I care for the child who stands up for his friend.

I care for the father who takes time after a long day at work, to play dolls with his daughter.

I care for the grandparent who passes along family history.

I care for the men and women battling addiction and winning.

I care for the neighbor who helps his neighbor.

To me, these are the little actions that matter. These are the real heroes, making real change in our world.

Who’s a real hero in your life? What can you do to let them know you love and appreciate them?

Xx
